Pre-race routine:

Woke up at 0400, got dressed, parents drove to race site, registered for the race, then off to McDonalds for breakfast.
Event warmup:

Got in the water and swam around a bit about an hour prior to the race start.

The water was very cold and I kept getting tangled in the weeds. I felt I did very well though for the most part.
What would you do differently?:

I'd try to slow the pace down a bit and stop worrying about getting tangled in the weeds.

Couple of bumps slowed me down some. Hills were ok, but I didn't think I was going to make the first hill as several people passed me.

Was doing good, and Dad told me to be quick so I could be the first female out on the run course, so I did.

Didn't know which way to go and had to ask, but after that I found the trail. Walked a few times but started to run again when people started to catch up.
What would you do differently?:

Slow down when I get my water, because I get splashed and don't get much to drink.

Warm down:

Walked around with family, had watermelon, and then went swimming again in the spring.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Lack of training. Need to train more.
