Run
Comments: Decent run for me considering the rain and wind. Was a bit cautious...didn't push, but ran at a hard effort. What would you do differently?: Nothing Transition 1
Comments: Forgot rubber bands in the car...too far to go back to get them so had to put the shoes on in T1. Haven't done that in awhile and actually struggled a bit....not good. What would you do differently?: Rubber bands. Bike
Comments: Just a tough day weather-wise to really get into racing. Went back and forth with a guy until I had enough, so put out a 30 second effort and gapped him with a few miles left. My pet peeve because I always drop back legally and then these guys slow slightly as soon as they pass. Now you're forced to slow and move back out of the zone. It definitely costs some momentum and seconds. About 2-3 miles into the bike, a fella that was decked out and looked the part flew by me. I looked down to see my power at 350 so I just stayed. I wouldn't be able to hold that pace anyway. But it was surprising since I don't get passed by many. The better bikers are also the better runners up front so those guys are out of T1 before me and I never see them again. I pretty much ride solo the whole bike. He was gone and out of sight pretty quickly until about 2 miles remaining. Maybe he had a slow leak or something or he just bonked big time. What would you do differently?: I may be pushing too big of gear while riding up the rollers. I'm passing fast riders but then lose ground on the flats. Since using a power meter, I've gotten seemingly better on the hills but worse after cresting...maybe too much recovery needed. Transition 2
Comments: Everything soaked... What would you do differently?: Stay in bed. Run
Comments: Steady...not great. No finish kick. Post race
Warm down: Nothing. What limited your ability to perform faster: Weather and end of season weariness. I didn't run my disk or wheel cover. I probably lost some time there. Event comments: The guy next to me racked his damn bike in T2 right on top of my helmet and broke the shield and ear flap. You'd think in the elite wave, they'd rack their bike straight. I'm still a bit hacked off about it. The race was run well as usual. Right on time and also allowed us to receive awards early because of the weather. Last updated: 2013-09-15 12:00 AM

Small breakfast...drove to race site 35 minutes away.
Ran approx. 3/4 mile in the rain. Cold, wind, and rain took away some focus and motivation. Only goal was to warm the muscles and not get hurt.
