Overall Rank = 231/351
Age Group = 40-44
Age Group Rank = 39/58
Pre-race routine:

Ate oatmeal and yogurt. Drove to start. Set up transition.
Event warmup:

Swam to make sure goggles wouldn't leak.
Swim
  • 36m 30s
  • 2112 yards
  • 01m 44s / 100 yards
Comments:

Couldn't see & got confused by course. Drafted off a guy who was too slow. But my goal was to treat this as a warm up.
What would you do differently?:

More swimming training.
Transition 1
  • 00m
Comments:

3:30 was one on the fastest T1's in the race? I was leisurely and put on socks, arm warmers and took my time. The bike start is on a 5% UPHILL. I ran an extra 150 yards before mounting.
What would you do differently?:

Practice mounting uphill with socks on?
Bike
  • 4h 09m 8s
  • 55.7 miles
  • 13.41 mile/hr
Comments:

My descents were awesome. Once I made it up the wall, I just wanted to be sure that I could finish the race and get my brick.
What would you do differently?:

SHOULD NOT have stopped at the top of the wall to drop off gloves. Took my two precious minutes to find a moment to restart. I need to lose 15 lbs, too.
Transition 2
  • 01m 46s
Comments:

1:46. Again, felt leisurely, but not too many were faster.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing
Run
  • 2h 38m 8s
  • 13.1 miles
  • 12m 04s  min/mile
Comments:

Again, the goal was to finish and get my brick. My insides were twisted from mile 11 on. Not sure what THAT was all about, but it made it IMPOSSIBLE to run.
What would you do differently?:

Be thinner
Post race
Warm down:

Sat in a chair next to Dow. Drank a water.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Too fat. Goal was to get brick, not to race.

Event comments:

Wow. Harder than CDA!
