Run
Comments: Begged Dexter to stay with me today, cuz I just wasn't sure I could make it on my own. Not feeling well since yesterday - red throat with white dots, along with girl troubles. Was hoping to come in under 35. Lots of shade, but I was hot. Last walk break was too long and lots of people passed - ugh. Opened up a little coming down the last hill (way better on my knees than trying to brace myself). Got to a flat part and wanted to stop. There was lots of cheering after 3 mile mark and it seriously helped! So I picked it up a bit, passed by our cheering Will, Dud was behind me and then WHAMO - the sound of tread skidding and boom. I turned to see Dud on his way down with is right shoulder tucked under him and over he went. By the time I turned around and got to him, he was already up and moving forward. Very nice form! He went with it and recovered quickly! What would you do differently?: Run more Post race
Warm down: kept walking a bit, and then stretched. Had gobs of water, an orange slice, and a blue popsicle (which dripped on my # that is now proudly displayed in the garage). What limited your ability to perform faster: mental & physical weakness Event comments: Thanks, Dud! I know you could have had a much better time, but I am so thankful you stayed with me! I wouldn't be out there if it weren't for you. At the beginning of the race, going up the first hill, someone was commenting about how the tigers might be loose and running after us. I thought, 'that's ok, I'll just stay behind and they can have me for breakfast and you guys can go on running.' Part of the course was 2-way traffic and it was both encouraging and a drag to see the leaders on there way back even before we hit the 1 mile mark. Last updated: 2006-07-05 12:00 AM
