Swim
Comments: First wave went off and had some nerves. Then 2 wave went off and all was forgotten. I was toward the back of the wave and gave myself room enough to start off with a good pace. The only problem was the people up front began to bunch around the first buoy. I quick caught up to the main pack. The group thinned out along the straightaway then bunched again at the second buoy rounding for the home. There were a lot of people not sighting property and that were all over the course. What would you do differently?: I would have moved myself to the front and stayed to the outside and avoid the chaos that I wound up swimming into. Transition 1
Comments: Transition went smooth. Came into transition and saw my buddy who had been in the first wave. That gave me a huge adrenaline boost. I did not use a wetsuit this year I opted for a 2 piece tri suit. Socks and shoes went on seamlessly. Only issue was when I hopped on my bike I was not able to slide my feet into my pedals. That cost me a few seconds. What would you do differently?: Nothing Bike
Comments: Bike was smooth. My friend hit the course before me and I knew that I could catch him. I paced myself enough to slowly reel him in. I did not want to push too hard and then die on the run. What would you do differently?: Push harder next time Transition 2
Comments: Transition was smooth. Had a slight wobble when putting on my running shoes, but overall everything went great. What would you do differently?: Use clip pedals. Run
Comments: Started off the run with my calves feeling very tight. I was worried they were going to lock up on me. Brought my pace down a little bit until they felt better. Then picked up the pace because I knew my buddy could out pace me and would eventually overtake me on the run. What would you do differently?: Training at a faster pace. Post race
Warm down: Stretching Hydrating What limited your ability to perform faster: Nothing. Everything came together well for me. I performed as good as I had hoped. This makes me want to push myself more for next year. Event comments: Great event. D&Q always put together great races. Last updated: 2013-10-07 12:00 AM
