Run
Comments: I really didn't know how to pace myself. My goal was to run a 1:45, however I found myself running with the 1:40 pace group. After a few miles I was determined not to get dropped from the group. After about 9 miles I dropped this group and surged ahead. The last hill to the Bluff View Art District was tough. Once I was the Walnut Street Bridge I knew it was time to sprint to the finish. This is when things fell apart. I have a recent history of a torn calf muscle. I believe I did it again. I had about half a mile to go and all I could do was hobble to the finish line. That was very discouraging! I still broke 1:40, so I was extremely happy about that. The bad news is that my running may be over for a few months. What would you do differently?: Nothing! Post race
Warm down: Since my calf was really hurting, all I could do was walk and try to stretch. What limited your ability to perform faster: A potentially torn calf muscle. Event comments: This is a fabulous race. I look forward to doing this again in the future. Maybe I'll get to to the full marathon. Since we were leaving for a family vacation directly after the race, I couldn't stay for the awards ceremony. It stinks missing the podium! Oh well I still had a blast. Lots of walking, stretching, and moving around. I jogged about half a mile before the race.
