Comments:

My first endurance event of any kind. Very happy to finish and see the wife and kids holding a surprise congratulatory banner. This is a local course so I will probably do it again. Good early-season tune-up.
What would you do differently?:

More time in the saddle. Less time at the rest stops.
Post race
Event comments:

Excellent race support with feed stations every 16-20 miles. Free massages at the end. No real post-race party to speak of.

Course: Nice rolling course with a few long climbs (4-6%). First half is very scenic through the high desert pinon/juniper terrain. Main feature is "Heartbreak Hill" at about mile 35, 11-15% grade, but only about 1/2 mile long. (I have seen it cited as max grade of 24%, but data from my Garmin does not indicate anything above 15%.) Total elevation gain on route about 4800'.
