Run
Comments: This is a lifetime PB! 3rd in the AG! I was hoping for this kind of speed, but was surprised to podium. I kept the legs moving aiming for a 7 minute pace, with reverse splits. My mile pace splits were about a second apart. I'm 6 weeks into my run training plan, and I'm a little surprised at how it's paying off so soon. Based on the advice of an ex-pro triathlete, I'm running easy at least 15 minutes every day. So far, so good! What would you do differently?: Since I had no idea where I'd be in the field (for my second ever 5k), I lined up too far back. In the next 5k, I'll be in the first 10 or 20%. Post race
Warm down: Walked to cool down, cheered friends, drank a water, ate a grain bar. Once cool, I drank coffees (Yay Aspen Mills!). Results: http://racewire.com/live_results.php?id=3275 What limited your ability to perform faster: I just lost a smidge of time since I lined up too far back. Otherwise, I paced myself well, trained and tapered well, and warmed up well. Event comments: My friends in the Palm Spring Frontrunners did a spectacular job with a 100% volunteer race. I got up like for a normal workout, and left a half hour early for an easy 2 mi run to the high school.
An easy run to the high school with a few hundred yards at race pace.
