Run
Comments: Fell into a reasonable pace that I was able to maintain fairly well for well over half the race. An uphill section took it out of me just before going back across the dam, so I walked for about 20 seconds...still wouldn't have put me under 30 minutes had I ran there, and it set me up to pick up the pace further. What would you do differently?: Given run training prior to (or lack thereof), nothing. Handled it OK. Post race
Warm down: Picked up my shirt from under the tree where I'd left it, grabbed a water, and went back to car. On my way uphill to the car, a lady came out of the bathroom, dressed for a run, and asked, "Was there a run today?" I informed her there indeed was. "How did I miss that," she wondered, before beginning her jog. Threw away my water bottle, covered my seats to keep the sweat off them, and headed home. What limited your ability to perform faster: Lack of run training. Even as I type I can't remember the last time I ran, save for the elliptical session earlier this week. Was so focused on the distance from last week's bike ride I put all of my efforts into training for that. So an interesting feeling after this. Disappointed because I didn't break 30 minutes (always the number one 5K goal) but please that, despite a decided lack of training, I was still able to beat a 10:00/mile pace. Event comments: Can't rate post-race activity because I didn't take part. No water offered on course; a little unusual but probably OK since it's only a 5K. Last updated: 2013-10-27 12:00 AM

At a PB bagel and drove out to Peace Valley.
Because I had to park further away than expected, I ended up jogging from where I parked to the packet pick-up area. Maybe a quarter mile or so...certainly good enough for a warm-up.
