Run
Comments: The run went very well. I wasn't racing, just using this as a long training run. Goal was to run a steady pace. Was right on 8:00/mile pace thru 20 miles, then slowed a little over the last 10K. Felt prettuy good the whole way. Walked about 100yards at about 25.75 up a hill, other than that, only walked at water stops. Didn't push it too hard, and never felt too bad. Fairly hilly, and humid. Feel great today, 2 days after the race. What would you do differently?: nothing Post race
Warm down: walked the ~0.5 miles back to the hotel What limited your ability to perform faster: nothing Event comments: Very well organized, great race website. Expo was nice. Course was nice, saw lots of town. Mildly hilly, but nothing too bad. Plenty of water stops. The did pass out Gatorade chews, but no gels. This was well publicized beforehand, though. Post race spread was adequate. My only complaint was the T shirt. After 50 marathons, I don't get hung up on ugly shirts. You can pay $35 for a nice looking race shirt online, but they didn't have any at the expo to buy. You only get a Finisher's shirt when you finish. For $135 entry fee, I would have expected to get the nice one, too. I have done many races, with much lower entry fees, that will give a race shirt, plus a separate finishers shirt, or some other swag. I was still prepared to shell out the extra cash at the expo or at the post race spread, but there were no such shirts available there to buy.. It's a minor gripe in the big picture, but it is one of the more expensive races, with the least amount of perks. Austin is a fantastic place to go for a long weekend, though!
