Run
Comments: I ran with a pace group. Though my only 13.1+ mile run was at 1:55, I was eyeing a 1:45 finish. At first, running at 8:00/mile felt slow, but I ignored the adrenaline and stuck with the pace group. We all stayed together and felt great for the first 6 miles. Then, when we turned back, the wind made a huge difference. It was a strong N wind that wouldn't give up. Between miles 8 and 9, I fell back and started running at a 9:00 pace. Considering that I'm coming back from a bike accident, I think that I did very well. Beat my PR and now have a much better feel for a race of this length. What would you do differently?: I think that picking a pace group was the best decision that I made. I wouldn't change that at all. I would, however, add more training volume versus speed training before the race. Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster: Bike crash in early November. Event comments: I can't wait to do this again in 2014! Last updated: 2013-12-03 12:00 AM

Woke up at 3:30 and ate a bagel with crunchy peanut butter and banana slices. Arrived at the race site at 4:30 and found a parking spot right by the starting line. Then, we cruised the grounds to get the jitters out.
