Comments: 1st open water ocean swim. Had trouble relaxing on 1st 250 when going against the current out. Rest of the swim went pretty well and was able to settled down and relax a bit. What would you do differently?: Need to get more comfortable and experienced with the ocean swims. Transition 1
Comments: Good transition. What would you do differently?: Was a little disoriented when standing up because I seemed to transition real quick and was thinking I was forgetting something. Bike
Comments: Felt good. Was able to push myself for most of the ride. Was ~21-23 on segments going with the wind and ~16 on return segments. Ended up with a flat tire when returning to transition area after race. Curious when the tire started to go flat and how far I rode losing air. What would you do differently?: Not much as I felt I did this about as well as I could have. Probably need to work on hills more as I did seem to give a slight bit of ground to the other competitors on the bigger uphills. Transition 2

Comments: Was tight the 1st mile and able to loosen up and push the next 2. Splits of 9:20, 7:59, 7:46, 1:01. What would you do differently?: Not much, pushed it pretty hard. Post race
Warm down: Walked around. Need to get into a better habit of doing some kind of cool down. What limited your ability to perform faster: Weight! Still need to lose 20 pounds! Also need to start stretching. Event comments: As with the only other tri I've competed in, this seemed like it was a very well run race and I hope it's typical of triathlons. I can't remember the last running race that actually went off on time and I really hate standing around waiting before the start of a race. For my abilities, the course was a challenge. The 1st leg of the open water swim was the most mentally difficult part of the race. The bike portion went well and while it was pretty hot out, I was able to finish strong on the run. Light breakfast of small bowl of Raisin Bran 3 1/2 hours before race. 24oz. gatoraide 30 minutes before start. This seems to work for me.
None. Was considering a short warmup swim but figured I'd get all the swimming I wanted during the race.
