Swim
Comments: I'm not sure how to interpret my overall rank at this point in the race. What would you do differently?: I need to remember all the training I did, and remember that I am a strong swimmer. I wasn't panicked, but I think that I didn't pace myself as good as I could have. I also did the breast stroke for about 1 minute, and I think that if I would have just continued to count strokes before sighting, I would have been ok. All in all, it went by so fast so next time I'm going to keep that in mind so I can give it my all! Transition 1
Comments: I felt good going into the bike. What would you do differently?: I definitely could practice hopping on the bike more quickly. Also, I rode with cage pedals so I put on my running shoes first, I think I would benefit from elastic laces. Oh, and next time I won't answer my mom in the transition area! She was so excited and was standing outside the gates and was asking me how I felt. After the race I told her that she couldn't talk to me until afterwards!! Bike
Comments: I think I had a pretty good pace, and managed to pass a few people...and I caught up to my buddy who beat me in the swim!! The majority of my focus was during the bike leg, so I need to make sure I keep that focus throughout the whole race. What would you do differently?: I think I could try and spin a little more, but overall I was pretty happy with the bike portion. Transition 2
Comments: Again, I rode with running shoes so I didn't have to worry about this part. This time, I didn't answer my mom! What would you do differently?: I need to practice getting off the bike. Run
Comments: I started out at a pace that was too fast for me, I was trying to follow my buddy. What would you do differently?: Ok, I'm so happy that I did this race, becasue I learned a lot. For instance, I need to keep my concentration throughout the whole race (more internal talk). I forgot about my training and started out too hard on the run, and had to stop and walk for a bit. I was dissapointed with that, and I know if I would have paced myself, it would have been better. Also, I thought I had drank enough on the bike, but I could have had more because I was pretty thirsty during the run, even with taking some water from the stations. I know I had enough energy left though because I sprint to the finish line! Post race
Warm down: I didn't really warm down well enough. I did do a cartwheel at the end though! Next time I will do more warm-down. What limited your ability to perform faster: Not enough water on the run, didn't pace myself, forgot to talk to myself throughout the entire race. Event comments: I thought it was a great venue for a first time race. They really did a good job! Last updated: 2006-07-10 12:00 AM

Got up at 5:15, watched the sunrise while doing deep breathing, got dressed, ate a cup of Kashi cereal and milk, 1/2 banana, and 3 oz. low sodium V8. I arrived at the site at 6:30, got marked, and set up transition area.
For my warm up I cycled for 10 minutes, swam for 10 minutes, and ran for 5 minutes. I wanted to run before swimming, but they announced another pre-race meeting and it messed up my "flow". During the meeting I did some light stretching. Then I walked around and took in everything while waiting for my wave to start.
