With a canceled swim, all I had to do was take off my running shoes, put on bike shoes, grab bike, and go.

Pushed hard on the bike... with no swim I didn't have any warmup, so the start was a little rough. I tried hard to beat last years time, and I felt like I was suffering more than last year with the pace... but ended up with just about the same time. TT start made it hard to know where I was in the field. Pretty empty out there... just passed a few Elite women who started a few minutes ahead of us.

Legs were really sore at the start of the run this year. Gatorade Hill almost killed me... felt like I was barely moving faster than a walk up the hill. Pushed through and hurt pretty bad for the whole time. Could feel my quads getting close to locking up a few times.

This was a rough year for the Columbia Triathlon. With Tri-Columbia going bankrupt, and the Ulman Cancer Fund coming in at the last moment, there was quite a lot that could have gone wrong. In the end the Ulman Cancer folks pulled out another great race - even though they had to cancel the swim due to water quality issues (too much rain in the week prior).
