Pre-race routine:

TNT meeting at tent, walked down to water, swam for a few minutes. 2 bagels, harvest powerbar, some gatorade
Event warmup:

swimming
Swim
  • 45m 39s
  • 2248 yards
  • 02m 02s / 100 yards
Comments:

I got a bad, panicky start, I couldn't breathe, I had to stop, breast stroke, stop, free, stop, but at the 300 buoy things came together, but I was at the back of my wave by then. I was swimming very strong, with good turnover, very good breathing and good navigation, I didn't site much because it was a straight line swim and I was pretty solid.
What would you do differently?:

get to the outside or inside for the start, I got caught and was in the middle of the pack as the MC started counting down from 10.
Transition 1
  • 03m 37s
Comments:

I didn't feel as quick as my time shows, but thinking back, I had come and gone while a number of people were hanging around their bike getting organized.
What would you do differently?:

nothing
Bike
  • 4h 43m 46s
  • 56 miles
  • 11.84 mile/hr
Comments:

too much liquid nutrition, burnt 2100 calories,
I was not in good enough shape for this course. I felt my rim bottom out, but thought I hit a pothole, after 5 to 10 miles I bottomed again, and check my tire. I had been pushing about 45 pounds of pressure for awhile. really sucked the energy from me. changed the flat and got back to it.
What would you do differently?:

train a lot more on hills.
Transition 2
  • 03m 3s
Comments:

fairly quick, especially that I changed socks
What would you do differently?:

nothing
Run
  • 3h 11m 30s
  • 13.1 miles
  • 14m 37s  min/mile
Comments:

my legs were gone, I did the best i could.
What would you do differently?:

bike carried over and there wasn't much I could do.
Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster:

my training, and not doing a pre-ride of the course.

Event comments:

not enough drink stations on bike, road was horrible on bike, hills were constant and every descent ended on a turn.
