Swim
Comments: Almost had a huge problem. There was also a sprint tri going on. I'm watching the start and all of a sudden I hear the announcer say "any woman with a pink cap should be in the water right now!" Well, I had a pink cap on! Holy crap! My step mom zips me up and I run into the water with 15 seconds to start. I asked a lady next to me 'this is the Olympic right?" and as the whistle blows she shouts "no! This is the sprint!" Turns out the volunteer gave me the wrong color cap at registration! Disaster averted, I waded back out of the water laughing. When my wave finally did start I was the only pink cap in a sea of purple caps! As my step mom said, I was easy to follow in the swim! What would you do differently?: Been more aware of start times for my wave. Transition 1
Comments: Should have taken timing chip off--that held me up getting my wetsuit off. What would you do differently?: Took chiming chip off. Bike
Comments: I really think I could have pushed harder in some sections that flattened out. What would you do differently?: Pushed in harder, although at the time I thought I was...still think I could have pushed more. Transition 2
Comments: A little fast transition! Run
Comments: Very happy with my run. Felt great all the way through. The last .25 miles was through sand on the beach, very difficult! An old guy was volunteering and directing runners so I jokingly yelled "Who put all this sand here at the end of a race!?" He laughed and said "Little lady, you have more grit than all of this sand to be out here doing this race! You're tough!" That made me smile the rest of the way! What would you do differently?: Nothing, happy with my run. Post race
Warm down: Sat in the shade and cooled down What limited your ability to perform faster: Genetics Event comments: The awards ceremony was a bit of a cluster. It was held on the outdoor patio of a popular restaurant in town. It was very crowded and hard to hear announcer. Plus, people were trying eat as well--the servers were having a heck of a time!
