Swim
Comments: Other than forgetting my timing chip the swim went well. After I crawled my way through the crowd (it sucked starting at the back of my wave)I found someone to draft off of for most of the swim, and then thanked him for letting me draft once we got out of the water. While the swim went well, I still think I can get faster, especially since I have no soreness in my amrs the day after. What would you do differently?: Remember my chip (which would also alleviate problems with starting at the back. Transition 1
Comments: This was my fastest T1 transition to date (albeit its only my thrid). The run to the transition area wan't nearly as long and uphill as it was at Litchfield which was nice. What would you do differently?: I still need to get more efficient, but hopefully that will come with time. Bike
Comments: Best bike ride yet. 2 mph faster than the Olympic at Litchfield three weeks ago. I still think I can push it even harder on the bike. Actually passed a few people although I was passed by a lot more, still there was significant improvement. Plus I was much braver and didn't brake on the downhills and tried to accelerate through the turns. What would you do differently?: I need a bike computer. The course was only marked at miles 5 and 15 and I couldn't figure out exactly how far I'd gone. If I had a better idea of the distance, I should be able to push myself harder. Transition 2
Comments: My feet were very very cold (they felt frostbitten) from the bike so it took me a little while to get my socks and shoes on. What would you do differently?: Wish I could run without socks, but I'm way too prone to nasty blisters. Run
Comments: You gotten love the place decline from the swim to the bike to the run, but even though this was my "worst" event it was still such a huge improvement from three weeks ago when I ran the 10K in 1:11:59. I would like to be back to 9 minute miles, but there was no calf and I wasn't completely spent at the finish line. I guess that bodes well for completing the Firmman in 2 weeks. Also in very exciting news, I was lucky enough to bump into KathyG on the run (whose race reports and postings I have been reading religiously). I'm such a dork, but it was really nice to meet someone who (unbeknowst to her) has helped me immensely with getting started on triathlons. What would you do differently?: With the calf healed and hopefully no more injuries I should be able to devote more time to "real" running and get off the elliptical. Post race
Warm down: Chris was at the finishline (and was there for all the transitions) which was great. Walked around, packed up and checked out the results (was bummed to have come in 4th in the Athena division, especially when 2 Athenas passed me in the last mile running and I should have been able to keep up). What limited your ability to perform faster: I need to really be injury free. Regardless my time improved by almost thirty minutes from my last Olympic three weeks ago (from 3:26:48 to 2:57:10). Hopefully next year I'll be able to make continual progress. Event comments: Race was great, really well organized, good food post race. My only suggestion would be to mark the miles on the bike better. Last updated: 2006-07-14 12:00 AM

Went to the Patriots game the night before, so I didn't get back to the hotel until 12:30 or so. Got about 5.5 hours of sleep, woke up had my bagel with peanut butter and bannana and packed up the car. On the way over stopped and got a DnD coffee.
Swam about 50 yards then made my way over to the start area. About 2 minutes before my wave went off at 8am I realized that I forgot to put my chip on so I ran back up to the transition area grabbed my chip and ran back down. I got into the water a little bit after everyone else from my wave had already started.
