Pre-race routine:

Woke up at 6. Ate a double chocolate muffin on my way out of transition set up. Wish we would have searched for a better parking spot but I was so excited to get there.
Event warmup:

Sat around after transition closed for about an hour. Got in the water and swam out to the first buoy and around. About 5-10 minutes. Got some fast strokes and time next to and around folks.
Swim
  • 07m 26s
  • 500 yards
  • 01m 29s / 100 yards
Comments:

There were some fast swimmers in this event. It should have been a 750 meter swim but clearly it was shortened. I would have benefitted in time and maybe place by the extra 250 meters! But I did come out of the water ready to run this time.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing. At 11th out of the water I'm better spent working on my run and bike while holding the swim comfortably here.
Transition 1
  • 04m
Comments:

The chip didn't catch my time. So I just kind of winged this averaging what everyone else did.
What would you do differently?:

not much I felt pretty confident and strong.
Bike
  • 38m 21s
  • 11 miles
  • 17.21 mile/hr
Comments:

I was alone for this and surprised. I fully expected to get passed by everyone and their grandma. Since it was 38 minutes of quiet time I sang to myself. If your happy and you know it peddle your bike. If your happy and you know it then your bike split should surely show it. If you're happy and you know it, peddle your bike. Riding across the cobblestone bricks was less than fun.
What would you do differently?:

nothing. I'm going to buy those fancy clip shoes and kill this with practice. Look out ladies I'm going to get better!
Transition 2
  • 02m 27s
Comments:

Forgot to take my helmet off. Started running and had to come back.
Run
  • 30m 24s
  • 3.1 miles
  • 09m 49s  min/mile
Comments:

I'm calling this a good run. For my first effort I went under 10min per mile. Now it's time to work on the run. I think this is my greatest opportunity for improvement. I loved yelling stuff at other people. Had so much fun with the encouragement both getting and receiving.
Post race
Warm down:

I'm sad that it's all over.

Event comments:

Only 1 I've done so it has to be the best!
