Pre-race routine:

Shivered, complained about it being cold, shivered...seeing a theme??!!
Event warmup:

Fought my way into a wetsuit, tried to eat a PowerBar and discussed strategy with Trixie.
Swim
  • 20m 48s
  • 875 yards
  • 02m 23s / 100 yards
Comments:

Well, we started out with a great effort that since it was Trixie's first tri, we were going to actually SWIM the course. But...while she was swimming, I was walking since the water was only waist deep for me. I kept an eye on her and helped navigate. There was tons of stuff in the water which was just nasty and so I aquajogged a good majority of the swim. Plus...the freaking water was SO cold, it took my breath away if I got my face in it.

Trixie came up at one point and had so much seaweed on her head she looked like the lochness monster!!
What would you do differently?:

Absolutely nothing!! My job was to help Trix thru her first tri swim. Nothing more!!
Transition 1
  • 00m
Comments:

T1 and T2 are lumped into the bike time, so not sure how long. I know I took forever to get out of the water and get to the bike. My legs were TOASTED after 20 minutes of aquajogging!! I told Jean and Rick that I was done after the swim. Jean was yelling to get moving, and I told her my job here was done!! I REALLY didn't want to do anymore at that point, but I REALLY wanted to ride the B2!! :)
Bike
  • 1h 01m
  • 18.64 miles
  • 18.33 mile/hr
Comments:

Bike computer said my average speed was 19.56, so this time is a little off. Not sure if course was long, or my T1/2 times were that long. Anyway....good bike considering I haven't ridden since my last race 2 months ago. I rode Rick's B2, so it was a tad big. I had to stretch out pretty far to change gears and get aero, but it felt pretty good. My undercarriage had more issues than anything getting used to TITS.

Coming out of transition, my legs were SO freaking shakey I tried to swing a leg over the bike and missed! Hit the bottles on the back and dumped the bike over. Cut my leg on the chain and had grease all over me!! What an idiot!! I tried again, got it, and took off. I was now mad at myself, couldn't see Trixie and was determined to catch her!! The plan was for me to draft her as long as I could on the bike.

So, I set out on a mission to pick off people and pass them. I passed a TON of people, and never got passed!! WOO HOO!! I absolutely LOVED the sound of the disc wheel!! I was such a poser on that bike with my pitiful performance, but it sure felt good!! People along the street were telling me how cool my bike was, and I hollered "thank you" back at them!! It made me want to push harder!! I pushed a lil too hard about 20 km, tried to take in a clif blok and ended up spewing that and the e fuel. Tried REALLY hard not to get it on the bike...not sure how successful I was tho. I only promised not to pee on the bike...puking is almost always a given!!

Made it back to T2, and Rick told me I had an awesome bike time and was only a couple of minutes behind Trixie!! WOOOOOOHOOOOOOOO!! That made me feel better!!
What would you do differently?:

Train??
Transition 2
  • 00m
What would you do differently?:

Move my butt!! I racked the bike, changed shoes and was off, puked one more time, but I felt like I was forgetting something. I probably wasted a good minute trying to figure out what I was missing...which was nothing!!
Run
  • 38m 26s
  • 3.73 miles
  • 10m 18s  min/mile
Comments:

I started off with a 1 minute run/1 minute walk because my HR was sky high and my legs were toasted from the "swim" and bike. I figured I would try that for a little bit, then bump up the run time. I tried a 3:1 and felt terrible, so I went back to 1:1. I was eating 1 tums every mile and that helped a LOT!! I took one water over the head and one to drink at every station, but REALLY wanted something with calories. Only puked once on the run, and it was just a lil bit!!

Saw Grillmaster and got a high 5, never did see Trixie on the run, but I figured she was probably already done by the time I hit 1km!!

Had to pee the last km, so I looked around, nobody was close behind me...so the trail had 2 wet footprints and piddle in the middle!! Made me laugh!!
What would you do differently?:

Nothing!
Post race
Warm down:

Found Trixie, Rick, Grillmaster, Rennick and C1/C2, had a diet pepsi, and tried to eat a turkey sandwich. Belly didn't like it, so I gave up. Ate a timbit instead and sipped on the pepsi.

Laid in the grass and sunshine waiting for Trixie to get her award!

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Lack of training, lack of nutrition and an overdose of laughing over a weekend!!

Event comments:

CONGRATULATIONS TO TRIXIE ON HER VERY FIRST TRIATHLON AND TAKING HOME AN AWARD FOR AG!! :)
