Swim
Comments: Good swim, didn't start real strong but pulled away from the pack. Having no motivation heading into the race didn't position myself in the first line, which i should have. Had to pass front row of swimmers. Started out swimming side to side until i found my rhythm. What would you do differently?: Start at front of pack Transition 1
Comments: Took my time, first time in new wet suit. Once i figured out the top the bottoms came off really easy. What would you do differently?: Pick up the pace, due to the rain, I had covered everything up so it was a little slow getting everything out. Bike
Comments: Jumped on bike and started to pedal, but start was in the wet grass that had turned to mush. Once I got a foot clipped used it to pedal while getting the other foot in, then it was single file riders until we hit the road. At the half way point I was riding by myself for a good third of the race, but right near the end I caught up to a group of riders and then a pack of 8 guys caught up to me and we had a lot of traffic right up to the dismount line. What would you do differently?: I should have attacked at the end to avoid that group pile up. Transition 2
Comments: The people racked their bikes on the wrong side caused me to have no room to rack my bike. Took a little time to make room. Didn't rush the transition, had to tie shoes. What would you do differently?: Add my speed laces, or have shoes ready to go. Run
Comments: Was very curious to see how shins would hold up having been recovering from injury. First 2 miles managed to walk/run due to calf strain, top of Achilles bottom of calf. Then the last 3/4 to a mile manage to run almost all of it and was running strong. What would you do differently?: Need to figure out leg issues, shin and now calf. Post race
Warm down: Grabbed some food, and sat with parents. What limited your ability to perform faster: Wasn't expecting much after the last two months of training volume. Work/family obligations really took me away from preparing. First race of the series will pull it together. Event comments: Despite the storm, managed to get race started on time. Good time had by all. Last updated: 2014-02-10 12:00 AM

Arrived early, checked in, located bike rack and waited for the storm to hit. Sat in car until 30 minutes before start. Parents showed up despite the storm, they joined me in the car for a little while. When it was time to get ready it was a light rain but nothing to stop the event. Headed to transition area, setup and started thinking about race.
No warm up, waded into knee deep water and then first wave's were getting started.
