Swim
Comments: two months off from swim training due to shoulder injury definitely hurt. i couldn't handle the oxygen deprivation. had trouble passing. What would you do differently?: next time i'll stay outside. i'll use anti-fog on my goggles. i'll use "pam" on arms and legs. Transition 1
Comments: no problems. What would you do differently?: i'll not take so much time. i purposely went slowly in T1 as it was my first tri. i didn't wan't to forget anything. Bike
Comments: bike went very well. felt strong and passed several people on hills. What would you do differently?: i would like to purchase a tri bike to save my quads and go faster. Transition 2
Comments: felt good and fast. What would you do differently?: won't take a towel with me on run. Run
Comments: i didn't have any calf cramping like i previously did. felt extremely strong. the quads cramped unbelievably and had to stop twice. on downhill, hamstrings cramped beyond belief. had to stop two more times. What would you do differently?: i will try to purchase a tri bike to save quads. i'm told bananas help with cramping. i guess i could drink more gatorade. Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster: lack of swim training, fogged goggles, mountain bike, cramped muscles. Event comments: i know i can finish next year under two hours. this will bring me into the top 100. i had a great time. people were very helpful and supportive. it was a joy to have my wife, two daughters and friends there. many are now inspired to enter in some way next year.
