Swim
Comments: Decent swim. I swam faster than the time indicated. Pads to end the swim were almost a 1/4 mi. from getting out of the pool. Transition 1
Comments: This was the biggest, longest transition runs I have EVER seen. The transition times and added distance kept me from hitting my goal time. If it was a more "normal" setup, I beat my goal time by 3 minutes. Size and distance alone added 7-8 minutes to my time. Bike
Comments: The lack of training over the last 2 weeks really showed. The first major hill kicked me in the butt. I did feel a heck of a lot better though on the second lap. Still moved pretty well. If I had more hill training I would have done much better. What would you do differently?: Need more hill training and increase in bike fitness. Transition 2
Comments: Again, the size of the transition area was insane. Run
Comments: Good run. Took almost a mile to get my legs under me. The hills on the bike were pretty tough. Once they loosened up, the rest of the run felt good. I can't complain. What would you do differently?: More brick workouts. The illnesses and limited training for the last month or so really showed. Post race
Warm down: Saw my uncle at the finish line and walked around with him. It's been around 6 months since I saw him last. Had a bottle of water a slice of pizza from a famous pizza place there in Columbia. The walk back to my transition area was a great warm down because it was such a big distance. What limited your ability to perform faster: The lack of training over the last month. Event comments: Great race for people wanting to try triathlons. I also think it's a great race to start the season. The amount of competitors and the sheer size and area of the transition area was a lot more than I expected. They could have done a better job handling all of the racers with more than one body marking area. Still it's a great race. Ultramax Sports always puts on a great event. They just need to prepare a little better for the amount of people they sign up. Last updated: 2014-02-26 12:00 AM

Got up early and ate my normal breakfast. Rough morning though because I had an hour and half drive to the race site. Almost too much to do. Might consider a hotel for the night before on any races this far from home.
The long lines for packet pickup, chip pickup and body marking didn't really allow for any warm up.
