Swim
What would you do differently?: I think the swim went pretty well according to plan. I probably need to train more, but other than that it was all good. Transition 1
Comments: T1 seemed a little slow. I probably should have practiced it more. I think getting my feet clean and dry probably cost me 10-20 seconds more than it should have. I should also put my gu in the pocket of my bike jersey so that I don't have to pick it up. Bike
What would you do differently?: Well, my whole thing with this race was that I hadn't trained enough. I think next time I'll need to put in more fast miles and more hilly miles before the race. Transition 2
What would you do differently?: once again I think the only thing that slowed me down here was changing my socks and keeping my feet clean and dry enough to put my running shoes on. Next time I may bring 3 towels, with one just for my feet. Run
Comments: By the time I got to the run, it was hot and I was tired. What would you do differently?: I probably need to train in heat more and do more bricks before I do a race like this again. Also, next time I may strap on my water belt just so that I can have water the whole way. (even though three water stops on a 3+ mile run should be plenty.) Post race
Warm down: drank two bottles of poweraide and ate a fuji apple. packed up my stuff and biked back up that ugly hill to my house. Event comments: The reason I ran this race was that it's less than a mile from my house. Having said that it was pretty fun and very friendly. It was my third ever triathlon and I had a great time. Got up around 5:30, ate a Marathon bar and drank two cups of coffee, then biked to the start of the race.
I didn't really manage to do any warm up besides biking to the event location which was less than a mile from my house and running the route from the pool to the transition area just to see if there was a route with less pebbles and what not.
