Swim
Comments: This was not a very fast swim, but it was one of my best efforts as far as swimming the entire distance only stopping to navigate. I love this lake / quary it is so clear and clean ...makes for a great swim envirment. I did have some problems with navigation thou i just could not swim straight. i probley swam an extra 100 yards in the wrong direction. but thats just the way it is. What would you do differently?: work on endurance and speed! Transition 1
Comments: i took a little extra time in trans. to make sure i had everything i need for the bike. What would you do differently?: not much Bike
Comments: The bike segment was very physicaly demanding. Changing cadence and needing to have sudden burst of speed to climb a hill is a lot differnt then a road tri. I need to bye full finger gloves. grip was an issue with fingerless gloves with wet hands. also my hands fell a sleep halfway though the course. this was a two loop course. What would you do differently?: lots more trail rides and work on strength. Transition 2
What would you do differently?: not much Run
Comments: The trail run was a serious challange. the constant up an down terrian change was difficult. The worst part about the whole thing was this serious hill climb in the middle of the course. literally having to use your hands at time to pull ur self up the hill. it also took some time to recover from the climb before u could start running again. What would you do differently?: do actual trail runs in training. Post race
Warm down: walked around, drank water and talked with my family. Event comments: This was a great course and i look forward to it next year. i hope to be more prepared. Last updated: 2006-07-18 12:00 AM

I arrived with my family about one hour and fifteen min. before race start. I set up transition and got ready for a short ride.
Took the bike out to see the first part of the trail head. I am not really sure what i expected but i was surprized to see how rough and rooty the trail was. I am very glad i went down the trail first before the race!
