Pre-race routine:

Woke up and had my normal breakfast pre-race. I was running a little late because I had to pack a few last minute items.
Event warmup:

No real warm up because I was running late.
Swim
  • 10m 21s
  • 500 meters
  • 02m 04s / 100 meters
Comments:

Decent swim. I thought I was faster than my actual time.
What would you do differently?:

Not much that I can do accept work on form and get stronger and faster.
Transition 1
  • 00m
Comments:

Transition 1 time was bundled into my bike time. Good transition. Got to the race a little late so I wasn't in the best of spots.
Bike
  • 1h 17m 2s
  • 21 miles
  • 16.36 mile/hr
Comments:

Good bike. Felt pretty good. I may need to go in and get a new fit for the bike. I had some discomfort in my shoulders around mile 11. Avg. speed was probably closer to 18 mph cause of both transition times added in here.
What would you do differently?:

Needed to drink more on the course. Ended up being a little dehydrated on the run.
Transition 2
  • 00m
Comments:

Transition 2 time was bundled into my bike time. Good transition. The speed laces are definitely a HUGE plus.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing. Very smooth T2 for me.
Run
  • 47m 45s
  • 5 miles
  • 09m 33s  min/mile
Comments:

Run was decent. I was a little dehydrated going into the run and never really recovered. Took a little while to get my legs under me.
What would you do differently?:

More brick workouts.
Post race
Warm down:

Walked around and drank water. Played with my son as it was Father's Day. Stretched in the shade as well.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

My training has been very poor. I performed to the level of my training. I have had a hard time balancing every day life with training. I'm definitely going to shoot for sub 2 hrs. on this course this fall!

Event comments:

Great no frills race. It's always organized and very well run. It's run by the facility where I train. Great race if you are looking to do your first triathlon but is also a fun race for more experienced triathletes. Definitely a perfect race to fit into your training plans for the season.
