Swim
Comments: Went out too fast and took the lead early. No one to draft off of so I tired quickly. Had a few panicky moments but persevered. Arms were tired from lack of practice but still managed to post a damn good time. Next closest competitor in AG was 2 minutes behind. What would you do differently?: Practice more. :-) Transition 1
Comments: Decent transition. Much better than last year. It was a long run to the bike so was winded and had to sit down to catch breath. Bike
Comments: Not too bad bike considering my lack of decent training beforehand. Took me about 3-4 miles to get my heart rate settled and my legs into it. I felt stringer in the second loop. Deep down I felt I should have gone faster and tried to break 20mph pace. Definitely know it's achievable. Transition 2
Comments: Good transition. Pretty much in and out very quick. Run
Comments: Break through run for me. Was able to run behind a guy for the first four miles who kept a pretty decent pace. Overtook him around mile 4. Did not stop except to get water and even made it up the hills. I just could not respond to women who kept passing me. Just felt like I had just one speed in my legs. What would you do differently?: MORE SPEEDWORK!! Post race
Event comments: One of my better races considering the lack of training beforehand. I am feeling very optimistic about Princeton 70.3 which will pretty much be the same course for the swim and run. I have to say that CGI probably put on the best race ever. The little things like numbered racks, volunteers to assist with bike racking, the school kid cheerleaders, and the great post-race food (grilled chicken and asparagus...are you kidding me...yummy) made this really memorable and stress-free! My partner and I were actually considering not doing this again next year but after the race were like we will be back. Last updated: 2014-03-31 12:00 AM
