Swim
Comments: Had a great swim. It was a bit of a cluster trying to get through all the swimmers but overall very happy with performance. Feel like I can do 30 minutes next year if I am injury free and can practice more. Transition 1
Comments: One of my fastest T1 times ever. The wetsuit remover helped alot! Bike
Comments: Need to clarify that at the pre-race meeting, the officials stated that the bike course was actually 1.5 miles longer than 56 miles. Thus, I definitely met my goal of going under 3 hours for 56 miles. However, I did not have the pep in my legs and am questioning my taper as well as the training program which had my longest bike at 3:30 hours. Need to get more bike fit next year, The course was also deceptively tougher than I thought. What would you do differently?: More cycling. Transition 2
Comments: This transition was stupid. The organizers had us go to the far right side of the transition area instead of being able to go up the middle. This really affected those of us on the left side since we had tocut back across to get to our bikes. I have never seen this set-up before and it added at least 15-20 seconds on my T2 time. Dumb. Run
Comments: Had a breakthrough as I finally went under 2:20 for my run split. I felt that I could have gone faster and actually been able to break 6 hours but my legs literally seized up on me during the second loop. Clearly my fall of the bike a week before affected me. Regardless, I am pleased with the effort and have something to look forward to. Post race
Event comments: Did a personal best time. Given the longer distance on the bike, it seems clear to me that I definitely met my goal of going under 6 hours for a true 70.3 event. Not one of the best run events but it was okay given that this was the inaugural race. I am expecting better things next year! Last updated: 2014-03-31 12:00 AM
