Pre-race routine:

Quick breakfast of a Cliff Bars and Gatorade. It took longer to get to the transition area and had to rapidly set up in order to get to the last buses heading to the swim start.
Event warmup:

No time for any warm up.
Swim
  • 27m 17s
  • 1500 meters
  • 01m 49s / 100 meters
Comments:

Really good water conditions
What would you do differently?:

Could have done a better job sighting. I had a tendency to drift to the left away from the course. I should have done a better job swimming close to the course centerline.
Transition 1
  • 03m 30s
Comments:

Had a relatively slow transition time but that was largely on purpose as I tried to catch my breath.
What would you do differently?:

Gear layout could have been better. The rushed set up at the beginning had me looking for a few items before getting out of the T1.
Bike
  • 1h 21m 33s
  • 40 kms
  • 29.43 km/hr
Comments:

Tried to bike within myself and seemed to have a decent effort. The technical aspects of the course made it difficult to maintain as high of a speed as I would have liked.
What would you do differently?:

I might have been able to push a little harder but it set me up for my best run effort to date.
Transition 2
  • 02m 42s
What would you do differently?:

Could have tried to run faster through T2
Run
  • 1h 00m 31s
  • 10 kms
  • 06m 03s  min/km
Comments:

Tried to run my race and not worry too much about what the other runners were doing.
What would you do differently?:

Try to keep running through the water stations.
Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster:

The run is still the area that I can probably get the largest improvement prior to the next race.

Event comments:

The race overall when great with me taking about 14 minutes over my last Olympic Distance effort. TriRock Philly is a good race with a fun course. While the bike is hard enough to prevent really fast times it did make for a nice varied course. The run was broken up into 2 out and backs which made it a little easier mentally to do. I would do this race again in a heart beat. I just wish the Olympic Race was on Saturday so that we could have enjoyed seeing the city a little bit more.
