Pre-race routine:

The night before we ate at an Italian Restaurant that we probably should have passed on. After eating, I went outside to show jkhend my bike. I just happened to feel the tires and noticed BOTH tires were flat. Thankfully, the bike shop where we picked up our race packets was open late. I was able to pick up two new tubes and new rim tape. We went straight back to the hotel room and had to do the repairs. I managed to get to bed by 10:30.

Woke up at 4:00 and had a bagel, some much needed coffee and a banana and then headed to the race site.

Event warmup:

Did a nice short warm up swim in the bath warm water.

  • 01m 57s
Comments:

The transition area was about 100 yards from where the swim ended up and on top of a hill. You had to sprint up a hill with at least a 45 degree incline. A real good way to get your heart rate up around max.
What would you do differently?:

Lean to mount the bike with yhe shoes on the bike.
