Swim
Comments: Swim went well, although slower than normal for me. The chop and crowds were difficult and sighting for me was awful. Did quite a bit of zig sagging trying to get to the bouys. My swim technique is not the best, but it works for me. What would you do differently?: Train on sighting differently. Transition 1
Comments: No issues here. Quick dry of my feet, socks on with no issues, grabbed the helmet and gels and off to the bike course. Bike
Comments: Bike went well. Course is smooth and practically flat. A few inclines, but nothing to get worked up about. I felt good on this leg and was only passed by tri bikes, not road bikes. Very pleased with the bike portion. What would you do differently?: Not much. Transition 2
Comments: Nearly ran out of T2 with my helmet on. Run
Comments: Run went well over first 4.5 miles. The course has a few rolling hills on the last 3 miles and these got me on the finish. Felt great through 4.5 miles and really struggled over the last 1.5. Hills and the lack of hydration really hurt me. Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster: I have a real problem with hydration. I get stomach issues (cramping, other issues) if I take too much water, so I tried to watch how much water I was drinking. I used gel pack as a substitute, but it did not work. I struggled through the last 1.5 miles as I was dehydrated and just looking to finish. I did and felt good about finishing, but need to figure this out if I keep racing this distance. Event comments: CGI Racing does it right. Plenty of volunteers, all energetic. I would participate in any race they put on. Last updated: 2014-04-29 12:00 AM
