Run
Comments: Nice, easy run. Was pacing a guy who's in training for the Chicago Marathon, so this was a training run for him. For me, the pace was easy, even considering that I haven't run this far in a very long time. Like a lot of guys, he told me he was going to be doing this faster (at a 10 m/m pace), but it was pretty clear early on that we weren't going to get close to that. :) Nice thing - since I hit an 11 m/m pace EXACTLY I won a gift certifcate for a free pair of shoes!! What would you do differently?: Nothing. I wasn't racing, just running. Very fast field - even if I was racing I probably wouldn't have gotten any higher than the bottom third. This was a fun run, though. Post race
Warm down: Walked around, stretched a lot, got some food and water. No t-shirt, though - they gave them out to people as they were finishing and we didn't run fast enough to get one. Bah. They had far more runners than they anticipated -- over double what they had last year. What limited your ability to perform faster: My running partner. :) But that's what today was about. Event comments: I really enjoy this race. It's only in it's third year, but it's very organized, the goody bags are AWESOME, they have lots of prizes, the post-race food is good (even when it was mostly gone by the time we got there) and the venue is beautiful. I'd love to do this one every year. Last updated: 2006-07-22 12:00 AM
