Total Time = 1h 56m 46s
Overall Rank = 202/377
Age Group = f4044
Age Group Rank = 8/30
Pre-race routine:

No bananas in the house so went for Oatmeal for breakfast instead of banana and peanut butter.
Event warmup:

No real warmup other than jumping around in the lineup for 10 minutes.

My overall primary goal was to beat last year's time of 2:06 and my secondary goal was to come in under 2 hours.......
Run
  • 28m 45s
  • 3.12 miles
  • 09m 13s  min/mile
Comments:

I went out with the goal of running my 10K pace and was able to do that pretty well.

run 1 28:45
2013 run 1 30:03
So I'm up almost 2 minutes.......
What would you do differently?:

Nothing
Transition 1
  • 01m 19s
Comments:

I was pretty nervous - first race on the new bike. I had a hard time getting started (and dismounting at the end LOL).
What would you do differently?:

Relax!!
Bike
  • 54m 50s
  • 15.8 miles
  • 17.29 mile/hr
Comments:

I had my garmin set for 5 mile intervals so every 5 miles I'll hear the beep and look at my watch. I was disappointed to see my "times" going down because I thought they were my average speeds......apparently I was watching the "time" because my average speeds were going UP as my TIMES were going down.

bike time 54:50
2013 bike time 58:46

Just got another 4 minutes......

What would you do differently?:

More early season riding?
Transition 2
  • 01m 28s
Comments:

This transition was slower than the first one because my bike was the closest to the bike exit and furthest from bike in - which means I had to WALK because there was no way I was running with those huge Speedplay cleats on my shoes. Oh well. I debated just running in socks but I figured I'd just keep moving.....
What would you do differently?:

Gotta figure out the shoe/cleat/run thing.
Run
  • 30m 26s
  • 3.3 miles
  • 09m 13s  min/mile
Comments:

What can I say - I'm not a runner and I've had a horrible spring training through injury. BUT I'M BACK and looking forward to getting faster. I was able to maintain my 10K pace on both runs (don't ask me HOW I did that) and it was the best I could have hoped for.

run 2 30:26
2013 run 2 34:42
Just bought 4 more minutes

for a total decrease of 10 minutes over last year hitting both my goals!
What would you do differently?:

Run more
Post race
Warm down:

The car and transition were about a half mile from the finish so I was FORCED to walk for a cool down (LOL).

And not to jinx it, but this is the first event this spring I didn't LIMP away from. My leg is finally starting to feel better and the tendinitis seems to be letting up a bit. Thanks to my PT :)

What limited your ability to perform faster:

lack of training - it's really comical that my bike time is 7 our of 30 (AG) but my runs are 21 and 18, respectively. At least I can "ride good." LOL

Event comments:

I really like this event. I can't wait to rock it next year too ;)
