Pre-race routine:

Third year running the race; its like 10 mins from the house. I got up late and was running late. Oatmeal for breakfast - and rode over to the race. Parked and rode over to the park. Got my transition setup, marked and picked up the chip
Event warmup:

Did a mile or so run with activation - hit the bathroom - it was super humid. It rained hard the night before and would storm that afternoon

Big wave and rough swim - I never felt comfortable at all. Did a good job with sighting until the second turn then I went off course. I was very surprised when I hit the shore my time. Felt slow but was fast

Sighted better - I grew complacement

I was faster than last year but slower than two years ago - probably not so aggressive in the corners. I had no one to really race with - I was passed at the last mile. but passed everyone else. I was moving

What would you do differently?:

Good run - was passed by a few guys early then basically ran by myself

Warm down:

Got something to drink, socialized - found the results then went home. My AG was deep - finished 41st and 9th in my AG - wow

What limited your ability to perform faster:

I trained all week up and through this race including a time trial race Wednesday night. I did skip my ride on Friday since I rode twice Wednesday. 4 minutes faster so quite pleased.

Event comments:

Fun race and first OWS of the year. the run is a challenge and the bike course is curvy - nice challenge
