Swim
Comments: Kind of a slow swim. Didn't use my tempo trainer. Probably would have helped with my pacing. Didn't sight great, but did ok. Swim felt really short. Passed a few people. Transition 1
Comments: I wore flip flops from the water to transition. Kind of rocky. I struggled with getting my wetsuit off. Leg opening got stuck on my timing chip. Also transition area was kind of muddy. Wore socks. What would you do differently?: Skip the wetsuit when water is this warm. Or at least go with a sleeveless and figure out the timing chip issue. Bike
Comments: Did ok on the bike. Took it really easy on corners and curves. Passed lots of other riders. What would you do differently?: Be more aggressive. Transition 2
Comments: So so transition. Couldn't make up my mind how to rack my bike. What would you do differently?: More practice. Run
Comments: First mile was tough. Couldn't get my HR down from the hill. 2nd mile felt more in control. 3rd mile good. Passed 21 people. What would you do differently?: Get over being injured so I can start some speed training again. Post race
Warm down: Light stretching and a little eating. What limited your ability to perform faster: Injury Event comments: So I pushed this harder than I probably should. But I feel ok. No worse than before I started. Good to have done this to help work through glitches. Funny that the top 3 F 40-44 were the same as the Wurst Tri Ever in the fall. Christen BOONE and Mary Kay COOPER. Decided the day before to do this race since I'm still recovering from my fall on the trails. Planned to take it is and just use it for a practice race.
Got to the venue in plenty of time so I could get everything together in no rush. Took a gel and some water about 15 min before race start.
