Swim
Comments: Bad swim for me. Forget to set my TT. First half I felt all over the place and couldn't catch my breath. Finally paused to turn on my TT. By the time I got to the halfway point, I was doing a little better. Felt like my lower half kept sinking a lot. Did a good job sighting, and managing the weeds and not freaking out about them. What would you do differently?: Remember to turn on TT. Do more speed work in the pool. My open water swims without wetsuit. Transition 1
Comments: Felt a little slow getting my stuff together. I was on the far side of transition, so I had a lot of time running in bike shoes. What would you do differently?: Probably no chance my feet will toughen up. But I'd love to learn to hop on the bike with shoes clipped in already. Bike
Comments: Fastest bike I've ever had in a triathlon race. Felt really good. Only two people passed me. Did a great job passing people. Got blocked twice by a vehicle in front of me that I couldn't pass. Frustrating, but nothing I could do about it. Wish more of the roads were closed. What would you do differently?: Not drink so much on the bike. Drink more the day before. Maybe take it down one notch so I had a little something more left for the run. Transition 2
Comments: Totally passed my rack in transition. But eventually found it. Slowed me down. Sat down on stool next to me to put on shoes and socks. Could have been faster. What would you do differently?: ALWAYS put the pink swim cap on my aerobars so I can spot my bike quickly. Run
Comments: Just didn't have it in me. Was staying in zone 4 which felt harder than it usually does. Maybe bike to hard, maybe speed 2 days ago too much. But I just couldn't push it. What would you do differently?: My speed training in the heat. Post race
Warm down: Walk around, bathroom, drinking, Recoverite. Pack up transition. What limited your ability to perform faster: Heat/humidity, not enough speed work. Strangely nervous before race start. Event comments: Really good race. Too hot for me. Really well organized. Wish more of the course was closed. Getting stuck behind traffic was no fun and frustrating. But everything else was quite good. Loved the cold, wet towel at the finish line. Much better than a medal. Last updated: 2014-05-18 12:00 AM
