Swim
Comments: This was an experiment: Between barely wetsuit-legal temps and 300m distance (shortest open water tri swim I've ever done in 7 years of racing), I decided to try this without wetsuit. Figured it might cost me 10-15 sec, but I might pick up that much in T1. What would you do differently?: Wear a wetsuit. Not sure how much it cost me in the water, but T1 wasn't quite as fast as I wanted (though still one of my fastest). Transition 1
Comments: 6th of 15 in AG (though very close to the leaders' times and a good time for me, given that I always put on socks at this point) Bike
Comments: Wanted to avg 20 mph on this hilly, fairly technical course and basically accomplished that. First time racing on my new aluminum Cannondale roadie w/ clip-ons after retiring my Kestrel Talon tri bike. Best bike placement ever, any race--top 8.0% (previous best was 11.1%). Transition 2
Comments: 2nd of 15 in AG. Can't get any faster than this, esp. given the distance I had to run with the bike. Run
Comments: Good, but was hoping for sub-7:00/mi avg...just missed. Post race
Warm down: Hung around for what seemed like forever to get my 3rd place medal. Finished 15 sec out of 2nd in AG, about a minute out of 1st. Event comments: Second time doing this race, first time at the sprint distance. Long established and well organized annual spring series. Last updated: 2014-06-01 12:00 AM

First tri of the year. Was going to register for Olympic, but hadn't done enough race-specific bike training for that distance yet this year.
Garmin 310xt crapped out during warmup swim...looks like waterproof seal finally failed.
