Pre-race routine:

Hotel: up -2.5 hrs, applesauce, whey shake, banana, coffee, sports drink. got to event an hour before (a little late due to traffic). rushed in transition thus forgot to put on HR monitor and didn't leave any butt butter there for transition. spent 5-10 in water warming up which was great. goggle fogging, friend told me to spit in them, which made a big difference.
Event warmup:

swam some in warm up area
Swim
  • 38m 6s
  • 2112 yards
  • 01m 48s / 100 yards
Comments:

Swim time seemed long. 910xt had distance 200 yards longer than 1.2. Overall, swim was average. More bumps into people than I used to doing. Never felt tired. Felt like I was out for a nice swim. had a trouble siting and had to stop and look much more than I like. right leg cramped up in last 300 yards or so, made running up to bike a little difficult.
What would you do differently?:

Not stop when hit by someone. Don't stop as much to sight. Preventative maintenance for cramps
Transition 1
  • 04m 40s
Comments:

Slow as usual
What would you do differently?:

Not sure
Bike
  • 3h 11m 29s
  • 56 miles
  • 17.55 mile/hr
Comments:

Overall felt great. Never really hurt as I was saving for run. Climbing was good. Passed many people on hills. Downhill fast. Still getting comfortable going fast downhill. Hydration and nutrition good. stopped twice: chain fell off and bathroom. Neck hurt but not excruciating.
What would you do differently?:

Learn to pee on bike. Wear HR monitor.
Transition 2
  • 01m 52s
Comments:

fine
What would you do differently?:

Make sure I have some more butt butter. had some chaffing going on
Run
  • 1h 43m 30s
  • 13.1 miles
  • 07m 54s  min/mile
Comments:

Started out great and feeling strong. Around mile 8 the pain started in legs. Last 3 miles were grueling. right hamstring was hurting. just kept going.
What would you do differently?:

Wear HR monitor.
Post race
Warm down:

ice bath, stretch

What limited your ability to perform faster:

no hr monitor

Event comments:
