Swim
Comments: This was an ok swim. I was feeling kind of rushed after getting lost trying to find the race. The sun was blinding for the first and last 100 meter. Right before the second yellow bouy my right goggle filled with water so I had to stop and fix it. Up until that point I had stayed up with the lead pack. There was alot of moss/seaweed/algae stuff in the water. What would you do differently?: Try to relax before the start. Work on swim drills and technique. Get mirrorized goggles and maybe a short john wet suit. Transition 1
Comments: I bike with my running shoes - they laces had come out on the loops, so I had to mess with that. Someone in the TA instead of laying their towel and stuff longways like their bike layed it crossways preventing myself and other people to get to out bikes without tripping over everything. I had to go under the bike rack to get my bike out. What would you do differently?: Get to race early so I can rack on the end. Bike
Comments: Felt better on the bike. Tried to recover some lost time. I got up to 40mph on one downhill! What would you do differently?: ? Transition 2
Comments: Cool! I stepped off the bike again and ran into the TA. I did have trouble unclipping my helmet though. What would you do differently?: ? Run
Comments: Felt pretty good. Towards the end my hip started to ache, But I just ran it out anyway. What would you do differently?: I need new running shoes. The ones I have are getting worn! Post race
Warm down: Walking around, drinking water. What limited your ability to perform faster: Myself. Since my last race I have trained very little! Too many other things going on. Event comments: I love racing with HFP. They are very organized and supportive of all racers. This was a somber event. One of the HFP Team members had died earlier in the week do to a genetic blood disease. HFP set up a memorial for him. All the HFP Team members, as they crossed the finish line, pointed up toward the sky as to say "this race is for you". Last updated: 2004-09-13 12:00 AM

Stayed at a hotel the night before the race. I kept asking my hubby to go over to the race site so we could make sure where we were going and to pick up our race packets - but noooo! He's watching a football game. We got up at 6:00am morning of the race, I had 3 drinks of coffee and two bites off a clif bar, loaded up the van, & checked out of the hotel. At this point we were a few minutes behind schedule but not to worry the race site is only 4 miles away!! We got lost, it was foggy, & we couldn't see anything. We final made it there with SECONDS to spare. The lady at registration said she was just about to shut it down. We were in a mad dash to get our bikes and TA set up. I missed the pre-race prayer because I was putting my wet suit on and running down to the swim start. 3 min later the race started.
Ran from van to registration, then ran back to van, grabbed my bike and gear, then ran back up to the TA - all the while barefoot.
