Pre-race routine:

Got up at 4am made a peanut butter and jelly sandwich for the road, checked bike tires, mixed up accelerade for bike. ABQKid picked me up about 5 and we hit the road.
Event warmup:

Got to the race site about 6am and realized I forgot my bike bottles...Doh Luckly ABQKid had a spare and some gatorade so I didn't have to go without. We checked in, picked up race packet and setup transition. Talked to all the people we knew. Did some quick stretches then went to the pool and waited for our turn.
Swim
  • 07m 27s
  • 437 yards
  • 01m 42s / 100 yards
Comments:

Swim went good. I passed about 4 people. Swim was a seeded start based on a projected time. I knew I should have put a faster projected time, but I didn't get held up too much. I've been having problems with my goggles fogging up and even applying the anti fog didn't help, so I had a little trouble seeing.
What would you do differently?:

Put a faster projected time, and get new goggles so I could actually see. I would push it a little harder on the swim, it felt pretty easy so I knew I wasn't pushing very hard.
Transition 1
  • 01m 49s
Comments:

Ran out of the pool and into transition. My setup was at the far end so my run was a little longer. What really slowed me down was putting on a shirt over a wet body.
What would you do differently?:

Need to get a tri top for short races.
Bike
  • 34m 50s
  • 12.43 miles
  • 21.41 mile/hr
Comments:

Rode pretty good. I had trouble with my front derailleur, so I couldn't shift into the big chain ring. It wasn't that bad except on the down hills I had to coast since I ran out of gears.
What would you do differently?:

Drink a little more, and make sure my derailleur is working.
Transition 2
  • 01m 4s
Comments:

My transition was at the opposite end, so I had to run with my bike shoes for the lenght of transition. Everything else went really smooth.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing.
Run
  • 23m 14s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 07m 28s  min/mile
Comments:

Run went good. They had one section were the volunteers would spray you down with a hose if you wanted. I told them to go for it and it soaked my shirt which felt good, unfortunately it got my sunglasses wet so I couldn't wear them after that.
What would you do differently?:

Probably pass on the hose soaking.
Post race
Warm down:

Walked around ate some grapes and sorbet and talked to everyone we knew.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Only thing I can think of was maybe my derailleur problems, but that would of made less than a minute of difference.

Event comments:

Great race, well organized, lots of volunteers and they had a lot of food and drinks post race. I'll definitely do this one again.
