Swim
Comments: Got kicked in the face hard enough that I saw stars. Very, very rough start to this race. This is what I remember from 2012 when I did this race. Got beat up on that start too. Otherwise, one of my best swims ever. I am sure this was long. Oh well. What would you do differently?: Not get kicked in the face. Transition 1
Comments: about 3-400 meter up hill run to transition., Bike
Comments: It was absolutely pouring. Raining so hard and heavy that the drops hurt when they hit you. I felt good and passed lots of people. Got passed by two guys with about 1/4 mile left until transition. I thought I was doing well but when I looked back at 2012, I was almost two minutes faster then. Weird. Don't know if it was the rain or what. I was trying not to spike my power as much and perhaps that held me back a little bit. I remember that in 2012 I had a much spikier power curve so maybe I just didn't go hard enough. What would you do differently?: I am not sure if this course lends itself to even power output. I'm not sure whether it matters how many power spikes you have if it is only a sprint. Transition 2
Comments: I got passed by two guys on the bike on the way to transition. As I ran out of transition I noticed that both guy hadn't even racked their bikes yet. The clock is still running and this is a place to pick up time. I left my shoes on instead of going barefoot. Kept my tootsies a little clean and dry for the running shoes. Strategic decisions. This was a good one. What would you do differently?: Not race in the pouring rain. Push the pace even more. Not be a pansy. Run
Comments: I had a great run. I thought that this was a two minute PR but looking at the old report it was only about 20 seconds faster than 2012. However the trail was way more sloppy. I am very satisfied with this pace and this result. Anyone who breaks 40 minutes on this trail is movin. Post race
Warm down: 9:30 AM Grizzly Peak beer with the tri club. Can't beat that. Event comments: Really glad that Epic Racing picked this race up and kept the Ann Arbor Triathlon alive. A really fun race. Thanks to Grizzly Peak as well for sponsoring this thing. Last updated: 2014-06-10 12:00 AM

Changed it up and had cheerios a banana and a big cup of cofee. Daring, I know. Usually I have a big bowl of oatmeal.
Very short swim.
