Pre-race routine:

Bagel 2 1/2 hours before race start and 1 serving shot blocks about 1/2 hour before race start. Race was delayed 15 minutes or so because of a traffic accident on course that blocked the road and took away some of the emergency personnel. It rained all the way there and leading up to the start.

Water was freezing. I could not even put my face in the water and without a swim cap, couldn't see because of my hair when I tried!

Started raining very hard again just before the turnaround at South Connellsville. The guy at the turnaround said I was the first woman he had seen, but I didn't really believe him! I spent the rest of the race looking over my shoulder for other women!

After the turn around, I passed the next woman behind me. That gave me incentive to go as fast as I could! I was so happy to finish without anyone passing me! My first first place!

Warm down:

Walked around a bit and cooled off. Went to Bud Murphy's for pizza which was fabulous!

Event comments:

This was a tiny race and people didn't show up because of the bad weather. That all aside, I was still the first woman to finish!
