Swim
Comments: Thought I had a pretty good swim for me. Really tried to relax and take my time, I did notice my form really start to break down in about the last 400m or so. Was still pretty fatigued after the swim. What would you do differently?: I think it's time for some professional help. This is my 3rd year of swimming and so far all self taught. I'm covering the distance but I'm working way too hard at it. Transition 1
Comments: Run out of the lake was a steep hill but not too long and carpeted. You then ran across a road to transition area that was in a paved parking lot. I kind of just jogged out of the water and into T1 to try and catch my breath and get the heart rate down. What would you do differently?: Not too much, I wouldn't mind being able to pick up the pace a tad but I think slowing down a bit helped me catch my breath. Bike
Comments: Tried to go fairly easy for the 1st few miles which was a little difficult because there is a pretty good hill at about mile 2. Also tried to build my effort through the ride. Every time I felt like I was starting to get the lactic burn I would back off a little. Did have a bit of a problem trying to stay aero. I've ridden in my kit on the new bike but not while the kit was wet. Ended up getting chafed pretty bad so I had to keep sitting up to relive the pain. What would you do differently?: Just ordered a Cobb JOF so hopefully that helps. Transition 2
Comments: No major problems. Run
Comments: Things rapidly feel apart on the run. I haven't been running much the last 4 weeks due to a sports hernia/strain and it showed. I have been substituting in some extra biking in hopes that it would hold me over but apparently it didn't. In the beginning of May I ran a HIM at an 8:00/mi pace. I figured that would be a good goal pace. I ran the 1st mile in 8:30 with the idea I would build to an 8:00. Not even close. Pace kept gradually dropping and I was getting side stitches which I never get. Ended up taking a few walk breaks just to try to recover a bit. What would you do differently?: Not sure. I thought I paced everything leading up to the run pretty well. Apparently I didn't. Post race
Warm down: Water and some shade. Thank goodness our room was so close I was able to go get out of the trisuit immediately and into a nice shower. What limited your ability to perform faster: Not sure. Individually I do fairly well with each sport, when I try to put it all together the cumulative effect takes to much of a toll. Need to improve my overall fitness. Event comments: Well organized with great volunteers. Bit of a small field but there was a Sprint taking place at the same time. Last updated: 2014-06-23 12:00 AM

We stayed the night before at the Purity Springs Resort. Reminded our group of the setting for "Dirty Dancing". Even though the buildings looked a bit dated, everything was very clean and the rooms plenty spacious. The restaurant was top notch and all the staff very friendly. Best of all transition was right outside our building.
A mile easy jog followed by a short swim after putting the wetsuit on.
