Overall Rank = 27/80

Age Group Rank = 3/5
Pre-race routine:

Typical pre-race morning. Everything was normal.
Event warmup:

Stretched and ran around transition. Decided against getting in the water to warmup. Had to wait almost an hour from transition being closed to starting the swim.
Swim
  • 08m 45s
  • 483 meters
  • 01m 49s / 100 meters
Comments:

Swim was great! Best open water swim that I have ever had! I was relaxed and focused. Breathing was very normal and sighting was great. I need to duplicate this performance again and again.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing. Swim was exactly as I wanted.
Transition 1
  • 02m 57s
Comments:

I need to get better at my transitions. I am easily loosing a minute here.
What would you do differently?:

Practice Transition more.
Bike
  • 48m 59s
  • 15 miles
  • 18.37 mile/hr
Comments:

Need more time on the trainer. I need to get more consistent with the power output. I was having some stiffness in my shoulders on the ride and had to come out of aero a decent amount. I need to get a new fitting done. Since I changed my saddle, things are just slightly off.
What would you do differently?:

More time on the trainer to get used to a prolonged persistent effort.
Transition 2
  • 01m 22s
Comments:

Decent transition. The speed laces are really a benefit.
What would you do differently?:

Practice transitions more. Just like T1, I don't practice this enough and I loose time.
Run
  • 17m 50s
  • 2 miles
  • 08m 55s  min/mile
Comments:

Compared to everyone else, this was a slow run. For me, it was a really fast run. I ran much faster than I normally do. I've never been a quick runner. I'm VERY happy with this performance.
Post race
Warm down:

Walked around the finish area and sat in the shade drinking cold water trying to cool the core temp down.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

More training and practice of transitions.

Event comments:

Great job by Big Shark doing this race. This was the first year that they had a short (Sprint) distance at this Triathlon. Very organized like last year. I love this race. Once of my favorites here in the STL area. I highly recommend doing this race to everyone.
