Comments:

Water temp was perfect. I got the crap beat out of me at the 1st bouy but things opened up after that. Went a bit wide down the stretch so had to get back on course. The swim exit was a bit rough with big rocks and jagged concrete but lots of volunteers to assist no real problem.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing. Pace was good. maybe pay attention to navigation a bit more
Transition 1
  • 05m 16s
Comments:

long run to transition almost 1/4 mile up 3 flights of stairs across a foot bridge and down 3 flights. Chose to not wear shoes good choice no problem at all
What would you do differently?:

nothing
Bike
  • 1h 03m 42s
  • 40 kms
  • 37.68 km/hr
Comments:

Saw a bad wreck. Two bikes collided the girl looked unconscious. lots of blood. Several people were assisting her. nothing I could do. Thornton and I traded places a few time but we are so close in bike fitness so we came into transition together, but he got stuck behind some people so I sniped a position.
What would you do differently?:

I would like to have pushed a bit harder but with all the turns, and road hazards I backed off a bit
Transition 2
  • 01m 17s
Comments:

I got a bit disorientated when I came into transition for just a second but figured it out as i was moving forward so no real problem. Real fast and smooth
What would you do differently?:

nothing
Run
  • 38m 53s
  • 10 kms
  • 03m 53s  min/km
Comments:

I will have to check but I think this is my fastest 10K. Ive never felt this good. My stride was great, I felt so fast
What would you do differently?:

I took a full two weeks to taper and that was key.
Post race
Warm down:

Waited for Thorton to cross and we talked for a bit

Event comments:

This was the inaugural for this race and my hat goes off to the race organizers. They absolutely nailed all the logistics
