Wisconsin Triathlon Series
Overcast
Total Time = 1h 46m 11s
Overall Rank = 485/751
Age Group = Clydesdale
Age Group Rank = 36/47
Pre-race routine:

Woke-up, had some "butterflies" so only drank a bottle of water, ate a Cliff Bar, and had shot of pickel juice. I thought I'd give it a try! Gotta say, no cramping.
Event warmup:

Walked to the event from the campsite. A little stretching.
Swim
  • 06m 13s
  • 440 yards
  • 01m 25s / 100 yards
Comments:

The swim was shallow. I started on the far right and tried to stay in front. Once I made it to the bouy, I started to swim on the far outside. Avoided most of the traffic and only stood twice, mostly to get a bearing on where i was going. With the wiind direction, starting on the outside let me drift in towards the second bouy and the ran in.
What would you do differently?:

I think I performed better than expected, given the conditions.
Transition 1
  • 02m 27s
Comments:

Transition was good. With everyone racked together, it was a little more hectic, but I got out decently.
What would you do differently?:

Buy velcro shoes
Bike
  • 1h 05m 30s
  • 15 miles
  • 13.74 mile/hr
Comments:

Again, the hills were a challenge going up, but fun and fast going down. Top speed was 42.5 mph, which only means I am that much slower on the uphill.
What would you do differently?:

Lose weight
Transition 2
  • 01m 49s
Comments:

Everything seemed good. The rack was soon after the dismount and then the run was on the opposite end.
Run
  • 30m 14s
  • 3 miles
  • 10m 05s  min/mile
Comments:

Definitely needs improvement. Walk a couple of times, probably too much, but my legs were spent from the bike. I was able to run the last mile without stopping thanks to another 'dale who had the same pace as I. I followed him to the end.
What would you do differently?:

Train more and mentally stay tougher and run through the pain.
Post race
Warm down:

Had a bottle of water, ate a sandwich and met xh2oskier.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Lack of leg strength in the run.

Event comments:

Great race, and great weekend. Will definitely be back!
