Swim
Comments: Went "OK". didn't feel like I had good rotation or stroke timing, but aside from that I kept it easy and drafted a few fish that went past me for as long as I could. What would you do differently?: Nothing, maybe push a little harder. Transition 1
Comments: My spot in transition was terrible. All of my stuff was pressed between my bike and the transition barrier, with a support pole blocking that. Decided right then and there to do my first sockless race. What would you do differently?: Not sure, the rack position was terrible since it was right on top of the supports for the wall netting. Bike
Comments: Was going amazing until my wheel cover self destructed and wrapped around my cassette bringing me to a complete stop. Pretty much put me out of the race at that point. What would you do differently?: Nothing, I have no idea why the cover did what it did since I have used it many many times befor this race. Transition 2
Comments: I spent a lot of time climbing in and out of my corner. Pretty slow for a T2. What would you do differently?: Nothing. Run
Comments: Started "easy" and just built from there. I knew I was out of the race due to the bike disaster but didn't want to slouch the run. Ended up with a pretty good time. I actually ran through the woods along side the road since the ground was more firm in that area. Managed to cut the tangents on the course really well and pick up cadence on the downhill sections. What would you do differently?: Nothing Post race
Warm down: Nothing What limited your ability to perform faster: Bike mechanical. Event comments: Looked at my data after the race and I lost more than 3 minutes on the side of the road. That would have put in on the run side by side with the two guys who went 1/2. I was slowly catching them on the bike, and had put a lot of time on the one runner who could easily outrun me when my wheel cover destroyed itself. Oh well, these things happen. I contacted the wheel cover manufacturer and they'll let me buy a replacement since their cover self destructed. Last updated: 2014-07-09 12:00 AM

Woke up early, checked the weather ASAP because of all the flooding and storms from that night. Ate breakfast, drove to the race site.
Ran the run course and rode my bike a few miles. After that I jumped in the pool and splashed around for a bit.
