Swim
Comments: Probably, one of my best swims ever. I started at the front and I drafted a pair of feet for about 700-800 yards. The girl I was drafting from was fast and swam in a straight line, which helped me a lot. I passed her for the last 400-500 yards as I wanted to see how I did by myself (I was using this race as a training race). I swam faster than her, but I kept going left and right. I need to improve my navigation. What would you do differently?: Not much, other than learn how to swim in a straight line. Transition 1
Comments: 13/216 (OA) and 1/21 (AG) Very fast transition, finally!!! I make sure to keep my transition area clean of stuff. Got out of the water, run fast to my bike, ate a gel, sipped some sports drink, put helmet on, grabbed bike and run! I didn't put on gloves or socks this time. It saved me a significant amount of time and I was perfectly comfortable. It was quite a long run from T1 to the mount line, glad I didn't run on my bike shoes, although it was painful to run on rocks and tree roots. What would you do differently?: Probably, eat the gel and sip sports drink while on the bike rather than in T1. Bike
Comments: One of my fastest bike splits ever. Thanks to getting out of the water early, I was able to ride close the fast guys in my AG and I forced myself to stay with them. I didn't draft, but by "staying with them" I mean that I made sure to ride at a pace where I didn't lose sight of them. I always had somebody to chase. What would you do differently?: I started a little slow. I have to learn to get on the bike and start going at my goal pace rather than trying to warm up my legs. Transition 2
Comments: 73/216 (OA) and 12/21 (AG) This was the worst part of the tri for me. I didn't have lock laces on my shoes, so I had to put them on and tied them. Anything else was quite fast, but I lost quite a bit of time here. What would you do differently?: Bring shoes with lock laces Run
Comments: WOW!!!!! I never run that fast for 6 miles!!! I still can't believe that I put a sub 39 min 6 mile (that would've been close to a sub 40 min 10k). I felt very strong during the entire run. I think I got into the run knowing that I was close to be on the podium and I run hard. Best of all is that I got negative splits in ALL my miles. What would you do differently?: Nothing Post race
Warm down: Eat, drink, put my flip flops, stay cool, and talk to people and friends. What limited your ability to perform faster: This race came after a 20 hour training week. No taper and very heavy legs going into it. Would I had a better race, had I tapered properly? I don't know. I had the race of my life and I am very happy with it. It wasn't an A or B race, it was a C race and I took it as a high intensity training day, but it worked out great! Event comments: Good organized race and 100% for charity. Great people, great venue, I will repeat! Last updated: 2014-07-23 12:00 AM

Woke up at 4.15 am (race start was 6.45 am for my wave) and ate110 grams of cereal with 400 ml of milk and 2 Tbs of Nesquick. I also sipped sports drink and water until the start of the race and I ate half banana around 5.45 am.
After breakfast, I packed the car and drove to the race venue. I was there in 20-25 min. Set up transition and warmed up a little bit.
Run a few strides and I swam 200 yards.
