Swim
Comments: Better than last year's swim but still got pushed outside a good line to each buoy. This may be due to the fog and my poor eye sight. 2013 time: 35:04 2014 time: 31:44 What would you do differently?: Learn to swim more efficiently with a higher stroke rate to maximize straight line swimming to each buoy. Transition 1
Comments: Much faster transition than last year's and at Vineman, hehehe. Not dizzy or anything. Weather was still overcast so no sunscreen applied here. What would you do differently?: Nothing. Bike
Comments: Paced bike really well. Passed when it was safe. HR was in the upper 140s at the start and it stayed in the mid 140s up to where the only hill was. HR dropped nicely after that and kept it in the low 140s. LTHR was at 146bpm so I think the adrenaline kept me near that zone??? Nutritionwise, I drank in 10-15minute increments and made sure I didn't drink too much. Ate half a Clif bar at about 40 minutes to ensure energy levels stayed steady finishing the bike and entering the run. Had some Gatorade Perform left in PD aero bottle at the bike finish. :) 2013 time: 1:14:12 2014 time: 1:12:04 What would you do differently?: Nothing. Happy with my performance. Transition 2
Comments: What the hell... slower than last year??? I think I wasted time putting on my race belt (put upside down, ughh...) and hydration belt in my transition area instead of taking them with me and putting them on while exiting. What would you do differently?: Carry race and hydration belt with me while exiting T2. Run
Comments: Planned on going super easy the first 1 miles to see how my stomach felt. Ate AccelGel at 1.5 miles with water. No stomach problems at all, yay!!! Right ankle bothered me a bit during the run but still kept a good pace. I gradually increased my RPE aiming to negative split each mile and I did! :D 2013 time: 54:06 2014 time: 44:36 What would you do differently?: Nothing. Post race
Warm down: Walked around and did stretch routine and walked some more. Took some pictures. Ate veggie burger, chips, oranges. Drank Endurox R4 and water. Bananas looked too green for me, hehe. What limited your ability to perform faster: Current swimming stroke rate. Pretty satisfied with my bike and run performance. T2 clumsiness. Event comments: Going to race this again next year! :D Last updated: 2014-07-29 12:00 AM

Got up at 5:30am. Ate peanut butter and honey toastie and some Gatorade Perform. Packed and drove to race site. Unloaded transition area and quickly went to take a dump. Cleaned up, ate a banana, and set up transition area. Went to pre-race meeting.
Lubed and got into wetsuit and jumped into the water at 7:45am. Got warmed up and acclimated. It was foggy! O_O
