Pre-race routine:

Crazy. Had to set up bike-run trans, pick up race packet, get marked, then drive ~15min over to swim-run trans, set that up and stretch, all in ~1 hr, 15 min.
Event warmup:

None.
Swim
  • 31m 29s
  • 1640 yards
  • 01m 55s / 100 yards
Comments:

Got a good start on the swim, running out to the side of the major pack.
What would you do differently?:

Struggled somewhat with navigation, maybe stay closer to other swimmers as its difficult to see the bouys without my glasses.
Transition 1
  • 00m
Comments:

This was a swim-run transition, the first I've done. Relatively easy save that sandy feet don't work well with clean socks and my towel was on the bottom of the transition pile.
What would you do differently?:

Have towel readily accessible.
Bike
  • 1h 28m 59s
  • 24.85 miles
  • 16.76 mile/hr
Comments:

This event was last and finished with an uphill sprint. I could definitely tell that my legs were exhausted more than without running.
Had a flat immediately after leaving T2--The good news, I was able to change it there and leave my tools/old tube at the trans area.
What would you do differently?:

Carefully examine bike prior to start.
Transition 2
  • 00m
Comments:

T2 was run-bike, and was rather uneventful save the flat tire.
What would you do differently?:

Concentrate on being efficient with the shoe change.
Run
  • 42m 9s
  • 6.21 miles
  • 06m 47s  min/mile
Comments:

Likely the nicest and hardest cross-country courses I've run on.
Post race
Warm down:

Walked around. Bummed a ride to T1 and get my car.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Flat tire, but mostly trying too hard to rush transitions.

Event comments:

A beautiful course and extremely challenging. I've seen better organization though. Not a lot of direction as to how to get to T1 and back there after race was over. Awards were nice-clay pot made by local artist.
