Swim
Comments: Felt faster than this, but of course the time includes some of the running time to the transition area. Given that I never swim train and I have shoulder tendinitis, I can't really complain here. :) What would you do differently?: Not much. Train a little, I suppose. Transition 1
Comments: This felt like it took forever, and apparently it did. It is quite a long run from the beach to the transition area, but even so I wasn't super efficient getting on the bike. Bike
Comments: I was actually quite happy with this ride. It's the fastest I've gone all summer, sadly. Nice course with a few rolling hills in the middle and some downhill at the end. I never switched to the small chain ring on this course, although one hill made me consider it. I was playing cat and mouse with a one lady where we went back and forth with passing each other, but finally around mile 12 or so I passed her for good. What would you do differently?: Train more, of course. Transition 2
Comments: This was another slow one. Didn't help that the guy racked next to me put his bike in my spot, not his. I nicely moved it over. grrrr Also, the usual no speed laces, so that took some time. What would you do differently?: Make a better effort to run with the bike. Run
Comments: Well, this sucked as much as I thought it might. In my defense there is a hill on this course that is at least a half mile long, and I'm not exaggerating. And it's almost right out of the gate, when legs are still struggling to shift from bike to run. Whose idea was this?? It's brutal. I walked almost the whole way up, since my running uphill is really not that much faster than walking. This whole run course is going either uphill or downhill. Very, very little flat area. But, as I told Rebecca afterward, I didn't run as much as I hoped I would, but I ran more than I thought I would. So there's that anyway. Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster: The usual suspects. Weight. Training. Event comments: This is a nice race and overall a good course, except for the run. I just can't believe there aren't some flatter trails going around the lake. ?? But the lake is nice and warm, and the bike course is good with lots of wide shoulders to ride on. Organization was good. We didn't stay for the awards, so I can't comment on that. Last updated: 2014-08-04 12:00 AM
